Architectural Wellness
A sanctuary sculpted from earth, water, and light. Solace & Stone reimagines the spa as a living work of architecture — designed to quiet the mind and restore the body.
Our Philosophy
Founded in 2014 by architect Maren Ishida and wellness practitioner Leo Castellano, Solace & Stone was born from a singular conviction: that the spaces we inhabit shape the way we heal.
Every surface, every threshold, every play of shadow is considered. Our facility in the Muskoka highlands merges brutalist geometry with ancient thermal traditions — creating environments that invite you to slow down, descend inward, and return renewed.

The Rituals
Each ritual is designed by our team of architects, healers, and sensory designers to create a transformative journey.
A three-hour journey through graduated heat and cold — from cedar-lined saunas to plunge pools carved into Canadian Shield granite. The architecture guides you through contrast and release.
Explore →Heated basalt and cooled marble placed along meridian lines. Combined with mineral-rich oils sourced from Northern Ontario deposits, this treatment dissolves tension at the deepest layer.
Explore →Our resonance chamber — an acoustically tuned concrete dome — hosts vibrational healing sessions using Himalayan bowls, gongs, and digitally synthesized binaural frequencies.
Explore →Guided by our certified shinrin-yoku practitioners, this immersion into the boreal canopy is experienced through a sequence of glass-walled pavilions that dissolve the boundary between indoors and wild.
Explore →Our solar atrium harnesses calibrated natural and artificial light sequences. From dawn simulations to deep amber evening protocols, each session recalibrates circadian rhythm and mood.
Explore →Private rest suites positioned at the highest point of our grounds. Simulated altitude conditions paired with oxygen therapy and weighted silence blankets induce a state of profound restoration.

Solace & Stone is not a spa — it's a pilgrimage. I've never experienced architecture that so profoundly dissolves the weight you carry. Three days there and I felt rebuilt from within.
